The Kooks get intimate

Band does a tiny show in LA and plays new song
21 May 08 - The Kooks played a surprise intimate show in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (20 May).

The gig was in front of just 69 people at the Kibbitz Room club.

Kooks singer Luke Pritchard told 6 Music: "We went there and we didn't know what to expect. Literally, we woke up and got into a red Cadillac and they just took us to random places and we started playing music and we just turned up at this house.

"We didn't know what to expect and it was probably like 200 people there and they made a big banner for us saying 'Kooks are on'.

"It was weird, it was so surreal - it was like being in a movie y'know. Amazing though. It's crazy to come here and have that kind of like appreciation. Tonight was weird because we didn't have any mics - it was like a soap box thing."

The band also previewed a brand new song, and singer Luke explained that he hasn't even finished the lyrics.

Luke said: "Maybe i'll call it Shelter - but then you have all the connotations with the charity. But maybe that's not a bad thing. Maybe i'll do a song for Shelter. That would be quite good actually!"

The Kooks are at the Isle of Wight festival on 15 June.
