Amy bailed

Singer questioned over alleged drug offences
08 May 2008 - Amy Winehouse has been bailed after being arrested and questioned for 10 hours by police over alleged drug offences.

The singer was interviewed at an East London police station after attending by arrangement at 1pm on Wednesday 7 May.

Her spokesman said the arrest was in connection with a video of the star passed to them in January.

Winehouse's spokesman said in a statement: "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with inquiries.

"The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

Photographers and television cameras gathered outside Limehouse police station where the singer is believed to be held.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "Around 1pm today, a 24-year-old women from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug.

"She remains in custody. This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22."

The Sun newspaper published a front page story about Winehouse on 22 January and passed its footage to police.
