Reading / Leeds record

Festivals sell out in record time
03 April 2008 - All weekend tickets for the Reading and Leeds festival have sold out in record time.

A total of 200,000 tickets sold in 24 hours for the festival and weekend tickets went in just two hours.

This year marks the tenth anniversary for Leeds and twentieth for Reading.

The event is headlined by Rage Against The Machine, The Killers and Metallica.

Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic said: “'I am over the moon! Absolutely thrilled. 20th year since we took over Reading after it had been bankrupt.

“10th year since we created Leeds. Whoever is talking about a slump in festival popularity is talking rubbish. Long live Reading and Leeds!'”

The event is happening 22 until 24 August.
