They'll be holed up in the studio this summer.
06 March 08 - Klaxons won't be popping up on any of the UK festival bills this summer, as they want to concentrate on writing a cracking second album."We're not doing any festivals this summer," James Righton told 6 Music; "We're doing one in Brazil, apart from that, literally, we're just going to spend the time writing and recording. From now until October we're just going to be writing and recording the album."
Following the popular success and critical aclaim for Myths of the Near Future, including the prestigious Mercury Prize, the band have one clear objective for the next record:
"We want to do a bit of recording, have a bit of a break, come back to it, be a bit more objective about it, and then start again."
"I mean it's just got to be better than the first you know? So we need a bit of time to do it, and now we've got it."
And they're determined not to speed through the recording process: "Slow down, y'know? We're not going to rush it, that's the main thing I think."
"I think a lot of bands can give themselves two or three weeks to write and record an album, but we want to do a bit of recording, have a bit of a break, come back to it, be a bit more objective about it, and then start again."
Despite telling 6 Music early last year that they wanted to make Dark Side of the Moon meets Thriller, they say they have no real idea of how the record will sound until they write it.
