Graham Coxon says recordings not discussed
31 Jan 08 - It's been rumoured for a long time that Blur will reform but Graham Coxon has told 6 Music the band haven't actually discussed recording together. There were reports that they were due to hit the studio in summer 2007 but the former Blur guitarist has said it’s naive for people to think a group can get together after so many years of not communicating:
“Steps have been made to talk though. I phoned everyone and all four of us met up last year and it was nice. It was small talk really, like you do with friends. Very odd.”
“Dave and I spoke a lot and we put a lot behind us. After a lot of miscommunication, you come away with a lot of ideas as to what other people are thinking. There is a lot of paranoid behaviour and it all has to be put to rest.”
"It would be a disaster to think there would never be another Blur record."
Alex James
“We haven’t discussed anything like recording but it might happen when everyone’s ready.”
Graham went on:
"We are all doing stuff individually now and that's fullfilling for us. That doesn't have to change. Perhaps making a record as Blur is a risk for all of us. So there's a lot at stake."
These comments follow what Alex James said earlier in the week:
“We are all talking, you know it's great, we have all gone on to do other things. It would be a disaster to think there would never be another Blur record."
Graham Coxon will be appearing at the Crisis Consequences charity gig at the London Roundhouse on 2 March.
